A team of experts in large-scale education campuses made it possible to complete this $179 million public-bond project within budget and on-schedule, in spite of challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. The shared team goal was to transform an outdated 1958 high school and its numerous outbuildings into a 21st century learning environment to support and inspire students and the surrounding community, and this was achieved through trusting partnerships and proven best practices in preconstruction and construction. The result is a modern and sustainable—LEED Gold Certified—Leodis V. McDaniel High School (formerly known as Madison High School) that now supports a 30% student-body increase from 1,150 to 1,700 students and has been honored as the DJC Top Project as the #1 Primary Education Project (larger than $50M) and garnered the AIA Oregon Honor Award.
